While Gulfstream’s jets may not be as big or luxurious as, say, Saudi Prince
Al-Waleed’s $176 million A380, they are often the preferred ride of the world’
s wealthiest because their compact size allows them access to smaller
airports typically unavailable to larger private jets. Their speed, agility, and
sleek appearance also makes Gulfstream’s planes akin to flying Ferraris, as
opposed to the A380, which compares more to a flying tour bus.

And an Impecable level of
Cirrus The Jet
Cirrus’ new personal jet, coined The-Jet, is set to define its own category in
the jet space. Filling the niche between high-performance single engine
airplanes and the very light jet (VLJ) class, The-Jet is an easy-to-operate
single jet plane that cruises at 345 mph with a range of 1,200 miles.
The-Jet is ideal for weekend getaways and flying into smaller airports, as it
holds seven people comfortably and is capable of taking off in less than 800
feet. The plane’s cabin resembles that of a luxury car, as does its cockpit,
which you’ll see in the thumbs pictured after the jump. For safety purposes
and your peace of mind, The-Jet comes equipped with a parachute in the
nose of the plane.
The new aircraft will be an addition to the current product line; officials said
the current top-of-the-line model G550 will remain in production. The G650 will
feature an array of sophisticated avionics including a synthetic vision system
that will permit pilots to land safely in otherwise challenging weather conditions.
The new model features a swept-wing design with winglets and it will
incorporate larger versions of the traditional oval windows in the passenger
cabin. The cabin will be 14 inches wider than that of the G550 and offer three
additional inches of headroom. The first flight is scheduled for 2009, with FAA
certification anticipated in 2011.
Wile Cirrus has yet to reveal official pricing details, the company states that
The-Jet will carry a price “that’s comfortably affordable for your entry into the
jet age.” We’ve heard rumors that the number could be around $1 million. To
reserve a spot on the wait list, Cirrus requires a $100K deposit, refundable
for up to 60 days before construction on your plane commences.
